After a day in Taumarunui to sit out a tropical storm, we went across the Whanganui National park over back roads to begin with then on a slippy track over a high pass, the infamous Mangapurua track  stopping at Johnsons camp. Hard day! The next day got a jet boat ride to Piripriki, so pretty easy! At the jet boat shelter net Nigel, and Aussy who had been stuck there for two days as the boats weren’t running due to the high river.  The hill track was ok once we started to climb out of the valley – it was the odd muddy sections that were a bit tricky for Jane’s trainers more than anything , made pushing uphill a battle at times.
